The Simmons Mesothelioma Foundation is a private, non-profit organization founded by the Simmons Law Firm. It is driven by the commitment, experience and passion of people who dedicate themselves to the helping victims of asbestos-related diseases. Our Board of Directors seek to support researchers and advocates in the fight against this deadly cancer.
John Simmons, President
As President of the Simmons Mesothelioma Foundation, John’s commitment to the families affected by mesothelioma runs deep. An outspoken advocate for the victims of asbestos exposure, John has fought for mesothelioma patients both through his charitable and advocacy efforts, as well as one of the leading asbestos litigators in the country. In 1999, he founded the Simmons Firm to focus on fighting for mesothelioma patients and their families through asbestos litigation.
Outside the courtroom, John works to advocate for the rights of mesothelioma and cancer patients. John was instrumental in establishing the Simmons Cancer Institute at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, which was founded with a pledge of $10.2 million pledged by the Simmons Firm. In 2009 he launched “Miles for Meso,” a 5K race and fun run/walk to raise awareness and funding for mesothelioma research.
With the founding of the Simmons Mesothelioma Foundation, John seeks to create a legacy of support for mesothelioma research in the quest to advance treatment and, ultimately, find a cure for this deadly form of cancer. John has also served on the United Way Executive Board, the St. Louis Zoo Board, and the SIU Board of Trustees.
